The Toy Art Gallery on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, CA recently held an exhibition of Huck Gee;s cool custom work. Ranging in price from $600.00 to $8,000.00 they sold very well. Intriguing, exciting and just plain cool, these figures are very well done. Enjoy!

TOYGODD SHOOTS EMILIO GARCIA’S BRAIN CUSTOM SHOW

On Friday evening, September 16th, Toy Art Gallery, 7571 Melrose Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90038, had a showing of Brain Evolution, featuring customs of Emilio Garcia’s Jumping Brain figure. I unfortunately couldn’t make it and missed Emilio Garcia who made the trip from Spain to setup the show which included a central installation featuring oversize resin Jumping Brains. Emilio had two of his new large Bronze Jumping Brains there which were created in a Spanish foundry as well as three of his new 36” Brain Pattern Qees in Fiberglass!!

Friday evening was the grand opening of TAG’s new store. The new store is much larger than the previous location. It’s cool that it has a gallery section in the front for shows and installations. I decided that since I had missed the opening of the show which by the way runs through October 10th, I would go down in the middle of a week day and get shots that would have been impossible with a store full of people! I took almost 200 pictures as well as about 12 minutes of video.

One thing I have to say here. Emilio Garcia has teamed up with Toy2R in bringing his Brain pattern to the world. In my humble opinion Toy2R is missing a golden opportunity with this design. They have only released a series of 2 inch zipper pulls, a DIY and for the holidays a black brain. There is so much more they could and should be doing with this really cool and imaginative design. I can only hope that we see a 10 inch DIY as well as a whole lot more clear colorways before this goes away. In the mean time take a gander at all of the coolness I saw.

September 11, 2011. There were 2977 flags representing the victims of that day. Each had the name and some information. Most had pictures accompanying the information. This is only a portion of the flags as I just didn't have the time or power to record it all. It certainly provides a face to the people who lost their lives.

Hi and welcome back! Today I have the BBICN Blood Nails exclusive Tommy! I was fortunate to be able to purchase 4 of the 5 Tommys released a few months back. This one comes with a different tee shirt from all of the others. I'm not certain just how many shirt designs were made. It's always fun to wait and see what you get when you order a bunch of the variants. Like all of the other Tommys he comes with the signature tight jeans, hoody type jacket, messenger bag and Hand of Fate! The paint applications on this figure are great!Check him out.

I am also going to have my first contest. I have an extra copy of Ashley Wood's Fuck It book. This one came from Amazon.com so instead of the signature FUCK IT title, it only has F I on it. Coming with a removeable hood, hat, cool helmet, alternate set of arms (to hold weapons of course) cane and a shotgun, this is one cool piece.

THUNDER ON THE LOT, LANCASTER, CA

I ventured north to Lancaster, CA today to see a car and motorcycle show entitled "Thunder on the Lot"! I decided to bring the mini robot square from the Dirty Deeds 3A retailer exclusive Bertie set. Well no sooner than I had arrived but the little bugger scampered away. After searching most of the afternoon for him I found him watching a drift demonstration. I also found he had himself shot with a lot of stuff from the show. Check it out.

Today we will look at one of Ashley Wood's retail colorway Bertie.Unlike most companies, when Ashley Wood, principal owner of 3A, releases product, it is usually exclusive to his store www.Bambaland.com. This time however Ash released several colorways that are exclusive to retailers. Today's colorway is called Dirty Deeds. He comes with a pistol, machete, 3 severed heads and a battle field square bot. The box art rocks as well! Ash does detail! Check this out!

Hi, welcome back to another fantastic release of Ashley Wood's/3A vinyl. Tonight is the just arrived Day Watch/Night Watch/DIY 3 pack of the Drop Cloth robots. These bots measure in at approximately 16 inches. Are loaded with articulation and ball joints allowing for maximum poseability. They also come with a rifle, side arm, rocket pack as well as removeable packs and "skirt". I have been really wowed by the excitement that Ashely Wood has generated about his fledgling company. The community that has come to gether on the blog. But most of all I have been impressed with the quality of the product. Check these robots out!

Welcome back to my new blog. As with any new venture I am hoping that more people have found me here! Today I bring you another Ashley Wood/3A release. This really cool 12 inch figure was released a while back. There were 2 variations. One (the first shown) was a retailer exclusive. The second one (in black tee shirt with the provocative design I might add) was the exclusive to Bambaland.com. Each figure is hyper articulated for great poseability, comes with a weathered backpack and bazooka with a missile. The weathering on the clothing is really well done as is the paint apps on the bazooka. Check this figure out and tell me you wouldn't want to own one!

As part of this past Christmas festivities, Ash decided to make a few very limited items available to his 3A members. You had to be quick though! If you blinked, they were gone. Well there I was sitting at the computer waiting for the moment. What an adrenaline rush! When I finally checked out I felt like I had scored the winning points in a tight game. Ash recently mentioned he wanted some more love for this 3 pack. Well here it is!

So, since I am buying pretty much everything that Ash is selling I am going to show it all. Here is the XMAS02 3 pack of Bertie WWRP (for World War Robot Portable) robots. It consists of a D.I.Y. and Day Watch and Night Watch designs. These vinyl creations have tons of articulation (especially in the hands), cool ammo belts and guns! Check these out.

U1 Toy Arts is proud to present the first piece in a new breed of Toy Art Collectibles: "VOXER"! Based on a design by Los Angeles artist VOX ONE and Sculpted by Dave Kawano, this piece captures a true representation of the lettering style of VOX ONE. "VOXER" is produced in a hand painted resin and comes complete with the "VOXER" lettering, a wall background, and a base. This piece allows for several display options-the base allows for the pieces to stand on any flat surface and both the lettering and wall are produced with wall mounts so that the collector can display the wall and letters, or the letters independently, on any wall. Blanc Commander set

I have written for www.aftimes.com now for about 14 years. With the onset of new technology I thought I would write this blog about select product I review. I decided that I would do my first blog on the new Ashley Wood Limited Edition set of Blanc Commanders. These 2 figures are actually the 2 founders of the company. Let's start with the packaging (because a lot of companies just skip over this detail). The figures come in a fantastic slip case that contains 2 individual boxes with original art by Ashley Wood renowned artist and one of the principals. I was lucky enough to get a membership card as well. The figures come with paint apps galore, weathered clothing, tons of articulation, ammunition pouches with working clips, cool accessories including the coolest gas masks around.

(Remember something here. This company is SMALL). It has 2 principals, their own "hatchery" (factory to the rest of us) and ALWAYS delivers stellar product. They will not rush to get product to market. They don't throw out lame excuses as to why they haven't done something and they generate daily excitement with their own blog and news updates. Check these 2 figures out and I believe you will be impressed as I am.
